Structure
The storyline has a linear structure and conveys a lost in translation experience through an objective point of view.
The film is mostly constituted of long takes on sticks in a series of unhurried scenes in which the camera follows the protagonist in a distant village.
Main Ideas
The main idea revolves around miscommunication and lack of proper skills to maintain a dialog.
The film also focuses on cultural differences by avoiding subtitles and allowing different viewers to shape their own experience.
Execution
The film was shot over the course of two days in a remote village in Cuba with none-actors and a limited crew.
First draft of the edit was done within three days with supervision of Abbas Kiarostami. The sound design by Magic Sound Studios and additional FX and coloring was added later in High Gadfly studio in Los Angeles.
